Parkersburg South High School Crew is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. We receive no funding from the school or the Board of Education with the exception that they pay our coaches salary. The parents and friends of the Patriot Crew must raise all the funds to purchase and maintain the equipment, the facility, transportation and the scheduling for crew regattas that take place in West Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Maryland. Parkersburg South is one of only two high schools in the state of West Virginia that offer crew.
Crew is an exceptional sport that provides our students with a positive environment to learn the concepts of teamwork, dedication and commitment to themselves and to others. Crew is a very expensive sport and has historically been reserved for the wealthy. However, we are trying to keep this sport affordable for our children and parents. We believe that the lessons learned by the students participating in this sport will be carried with them throughout their lives. We do require the students/parents to pay the cost of participation. These costs include hotels, transportation, uniforms, entry fees, food, etc. This alone can exceed $500.00 per student.
The boosters conduct various fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the maintenance of the equipment, purchase new equipment, the up-keep on the the boathouse, insurance, etc.
We can only provide this opportunity to our students with the generous financial support of businesses and organizations. Here is your company's chance to participate in the excitement also.
You may prefer to support this team in another area. PSHS Crew holds several annual events. Please consider making a donation to our auction (monetary or merchandise), purchase an ad in the event program for the locally hosted regatta, The Brundage, or purchase poinsettias during our sale.
Please know that your contribution, no matter the size, puts us a little closer to the purchase of our much needed shells, ergo meters, launches, and renovations to the boathouse. If your business or organization would like to sponsor or donate to this unique sport, please contact a member of our board of directors.
Remember: your support enables the Patriot Crew to continue offering this great sport to future generations and thereby continue our tradition of excellence!
