Crew is a
wonderful sport for parents as well as for team members. Crew parents share in
the team's pride and sense of accomplishment, creating memories that last a
lifetime. When a rower joins the team, his/her parents should expect to
participate fully in both the work required and the rewards shared in supporting
this team.
The PSHS Boosters strive to provide programs and activities that will promote
and develop the rowing program and the interests of the student athletes and
their parents.
The Boosters work year round in fundraising efforts for support of the annual
operating expenses and new equipment purchases. In addition, the boosters take
care of the travel and food needs, support the coaches and fill volunteer
positions during the Brundage Regatta. The PSHS Booster's Board of Directors and
Committee's organize and manage all of the activities. It is vital that we have
volunteers willing to serve as a member of the Booster Board. Since PSHS Crew
receives no financial support from the school or the county, it is critical that
parents become involved on the Booster Board to conduct the business and
organization needed to allow Patriot Crew coaches and rowers the opportunity to
maintain our winning tradition.
It would not be possible to conduct the Brundage Regatta without parent
volunteers. We need volunteers to drive launches during the regatta, work the
concession stands, direct traffic, etc. Volunteering at the regatta is
necessary, but it also can be fun. It is a great way to meet other parents and
learn more about the sport. Those first to sign up will get first choice!
All parents are boosters once their child joins the team. We look forward to
having you involved! Crew at PSHS would not be possible without the Boosters and
the commitment of those actively involved. Being a booster is a rewarding and
fun experience (making new friends, contributing to the community, and watching
our children participate in this challenging activity.)
Booster meetings are held once a month, usually on the fourth Thursday at 6:30
p.m. at Boathouse. This is your chance to provide input, voice concerns, or ask
questions.
There are a variety of jobs that need parents. No special skills are required
other than enthusiasm and a willingness to contribute to something very special.
